Star Wars
There is a particular kind of fan who does not need a poster, does not need another mug with a lightsaber on it, and definitely does not need a LEGO set they already own. Finding the right thing for that person is genuinely difficult, because the market is flooded with officially licensed mediocrity and most of it is exactly as uninspired as it sounds. We built this collection because we were tired of the obvious answer.
We love Star Wars. Not in a vague cultural way, in a proper way. We have opinions about the original trilogy that we will not stop sharing, we have thought about what the perfect gift looks like for the person who grew up with this and still carries it around. That is who we were thinking about when we put this together. Someone who does not just want a reference, but wants something that earns a proper place in their home or their life without screaming at everybody who walks in.
Everything here has been picked by us personally. We asked ourselves whether it was actually worth giving, not just recognisable, not just acceptable, but worth it. A lot of things did not make it through that question because they were leaning entirely on the licence and had nothing else going for them. What is left is smaller than most gift guides and that is exactly the point.
This works for the fan who grew up in 1977 and the one who discovered it last year. It works for birthdays, for Christmas, for the person who is impossible to buy for because they care too much about getting things right. Some of what we have chosen is subtle enough to live anywhere. Some of it is unambiguously, joyfully Star Wars and proud of it. Both feel right depending on who you are shopping for.
We did not try to cover everything. We tried to find the best version of the thing rather than every version of the thing. If you are looking for depth of catalogue this is not it. If you are looking for something you can actually feel good about giving, this is exactly it.
