Buying a gift for someone who likes the Blue Jackets sounds easy until you’re staring at shelves full of merch wondering what the hell you buy. Licensed merchandise at your generic sports retailer is annoyingly ubiquitous; that logo on the same mug next to that beanie doesn’t scream ‘This person knows who you root for’. We wanted more than that for you. We wanted gifts that a diehard Columbus fan would love, not just own.
Being a Blue Jackets fan is a labour of love. It’s meant committing through some terrible seasons and understanding the difference between buying stuff to support your team in the easy times and buying gifts that celebrate just how much they mean to you. Giving a gift like that should be more rewarding than grabbing the closest jersey at the checkout line of your local sports shop.
That’s why we judged every potential product by answering one question: Would we give this to someone we actually care about? Someone who proudly wears navy, red and silver and has strong feelings about Nationwide Arena that aren’t just about parking tickets. A lot of stuff didn’t pass that test.
