Newcastle United
Buying a gift for a Newcastle fan is different to buying a gift for any other football supporter. We know that. You probably know that too. It’s a club that fans take personally. We mean that in the deepest sense possible. Not wearing the shirt to game and not wearing it back home on a Sunday afternoon kind of personal, but blood kind of personal. Family heirlommn kind of personal. Tied to the city itself kind of personal. When you know that about someone, buying them a presents from the trending items list just won’t cut it. They’ll know you know and so will you.
We built this store because we wanted to give as well. To scour far and wide until we’d found things that were actually worth giving. Presents that don’t just fill up your footy club buy’o meter but ones that actually hit the mark. Show that you’ve been paying attention; that you know the person you’re buying for and that you understand just how much this club means to them. Everything we’ve picked for this spot, we’d trust to wrap ourselves and hand over.
That meant being ruthless and cutting swathes of the obvious. We couldn’t be arsed putting a catalogue together. We wanted stuff that you’d actually use, keeps, or hang on the wall and mean it. Proud stuff. Clothes, prints, decorations that fans could relate to and that show the history of this club as well as it’s identity without feeling like some mass produced£15 tat with a badge stitched on.
This has been a special few years for The Toon. The Saudi takeover. The optimism. The feeling that maybe, just maybe, something big was starting to build at St James’ Park again. That buzz has rallied in the crowds back in and given everyone who’s been holding on for what seems like bloody decades something to really believe in. Presents feel more important for Newcastle fans this season. There’s feeling behind them.
So whether it’s for your nan who remembers seeing Shearer kick a ball around his back garden or your kid cousin who became obsessed with the black and white last season or that friend of yours who you know supports the Toon because it’s just ingrained in their very being but they couldn’t explain why if their life depended on it, we’ve tried to find stuff that’s worthy of them. objects in this shop were created without agendas.
