20th Anniversary
Twenty years is not nothing. Twenty years is school runs and hospital waits and Sunday mornings bleurring into one another and arguments that got swiftly resolved and others that festered longer than they should have and somewhere in there is a choice that keeps getting made year after year. This is what your twentieth anniversary actually is. It deserves something to match.
Traditionally speaking, the gift for a twentieth anniversary is china. We like that idea. There’s something comforting in the notion that something can appear so fragile yet still endure; that you treat nice things so they stay nice. We’ve selected pieces that pay tribute to that tradition without leaving you feeling like you’re buying display objects for a museum. Objects that will actually be used and actually handled and actually form a part of the life you two have built together.
But we’ve also gone off-piste a little. Because twenty years is worth more than one interpretation. Some of the things in this pageantry are about commemorating the occasion with the gravity it deserves. Objects that exist to be looked at (or poured from) and given a comfortable space on a shelf or a mantelpiece where they can silently proclaim: we know what this is. Others are about bringing something new to a life that’s already been going pretty well for two whole decades. Not every anniversary gift has to be ceremonial. Some of the best are simple invitations to do something together you wouldn’t normally.
Each and every one of these things was curated by asking ourselves one question. Did this feel big enough for what you’ve been through? Sure that sounds simple, but it’s easier said than done. Too many anniversary gifts are born from someone rooting through a catalogue and thinking ‘oh, that’ll do’ before mentally filing it away with the corresponding number slapped on top. We refused to send you things that could be given on any other occasion.
We only sent you things we’d be proud to give or receive ourselves. At twenty years. We looked at where you two started, where you are now and where you’re hoping to go. Every product had to be worthy of that.
