15th Anniversary
Fifteen years is a long time to love someone well. It falls into this weird gap between bust-the-celebration-for-reaching-hallowed-ground territory and Those Big Round Numbers that everyone likes to throw parties for. Which means it’s also prime forgetting territory; Sure, celebrate it with something nice. But not…actual celebrating territory. And that’s a damn shame for an anniversary that we think totally deserves to be celebrated.
Crystals are the traditional fifteenth anniversary gift. We’re into it. There’s an inherent seriousness and heft to crystals that feels perfect for a relationship that’s survived long enough to know its own form. To have been loved through difficulty and uncertainty enough to have solidified, if we’re continuing the metaphor. But we wanted more than just that. We wanted to celebrate fifteen years by including gifts that understand what that actually means for a couple. Not two newlyweds learning the ropes. Not someone else’s.setDefault loveseat indentation patterns. We’ve all been there. But people who have built something incredible and loved each other well enough to deserve something as serious as crystals without being ridiculously formal about it.
Everything we include in this selection was vetted by one simple question: Would this be meaningful on my anniversary? Not “nice” or “would I use this,” but meaningful. A lifeguard chair full of meaningful gifts is way harder to pull off than a lifeguard chair full of shit you only kind of register as gifts when you open them. If we didn’t feel like an item was meaningful to celebrating fifteen years of someone’s life we didn’t include it.
We also considered who the giver is likely to be when selecting gifts. More than one person loves these people enough to want to find something meaningful. But also, that person might not be the partner. Maybe you’re a friend or family member wanting to celebrate two people you care about without being cliché or accidentally ruining the vibe. So we tried to select gifts that could work for anyone. Finding a truly great gift at this point in a relationship is difficult enough without needing to also psychoanalyze your recipient.
Fifteen years of loving someone is an accomplishment that we feel deserves to be celebrated a little more than it tends to be. Let’s change that.
