Easter creeps up on you before you’re quite ready. One day it’s February and the next you’re confronted by shops made entirely of foil eggs and you’re scrambling to think of somewhere to hide a chocolate bunny. We don’t think that has to be it. Not because your Easter gift has to be lavish or expensive, but because Easter is a great excuse to give something that feels more considered and most people completely overlook that.
That’s why we put this together. Because the occasion is nice enough that it deserves something better than it gets. It’s not Christmas. But for a lot of people it’s more than just another Sunday. There’s family coming together. Kids getting ridiculously excited. There’s a warmth in the air that people want to celebrate. Eggs are nice. Chocolate is delicious. But you can give things that fit the feeling of occasion but also feel more substantial than an afternoon consumption.
We’ve tried to pick things here that cover the whole bizarre gamut of Easter. The small gift for the child who already has everything. The little thank you for the host who cooked for twelve. A present for someone you see around this time of year and want to let them know you were thinking of them but you don’t want to make a big deal of it. Lots of these feel like spring. Easter comes during spring and everything here feels like it would suit the season; recentert, considered and just generally right.
We didn’t choose anything in here because it arrived packaged in pastel colours or had a bunny on the box. We held this list to a higher standard than that. Would we buy this for someone else? Would it feel good hand delivering this? Would I still want to go through with this purchase a week later? A lot of predictable choices were discarded when we asked those questions. What you see below is smaller than most gift roundups will be. That was intentional. Easter comes once a year. Be nice to have a good place to refer to when it comes around.
