Ghostbusters

There are films that people like and then there are films that people carry around with them for the rest of their lives. Ghostbusters is the second kind. It came out in 1984 and nobody has really stopped thinking about it since. The logo alone does something to people. You see that little ghost with the red line through it and something clicks, some memory of watching it on VHS, or a duvet on the sofa, or a sibling sat next to you eating cereal. That is the thing about Ghostbusters gifts. They are not really about a film. They are about a feeling people have had since childhood and never entirely grown out of. We put this collection together for a specific kind of person. Not necessarily someone who owns every piece of merchandise going or knows the production history off by heart, although those people exist and we love them. We mean the person who simply has a deep and uncomplicated affection for something that made them happy when they were young and still makes them happy now. That person is not hard to buy for if you find the right things. They are extremely hard to buy for if you end up with the wrong ones. There is a lot of Ghostbusters merchandise out there and a significant amount of it is not worth your time. Cheap plastic, low effort printing, the kind of stuff that looks fine in a thumbnail and disappointing in person. We went through it properly and kept only the things we would actually want to receive ourselves. The pieces that are well made, specific enough to feel considered, and interesting enough that they do not just sit in a drawer after a week. What we ended up with covers a reasonable range of budgets and types. There are things to display, things to wear, things to use. Some of it is subtle enough that only someone who knows will clock it immediately. Some of it leans fully in and makes no apology for that. All of it was chosen because it respects both the source material and the person receiving it. Who you gonna call is the question. We have already done the hard part.
