Brother
Brothers are hard. We think that’s because they exist in this weird limbo territory. Tight enough that you feel stupid buying something vague just ’cause you spent time with them. But not usually brainy enough that you spend your time together pouring over the items on each other’s wishlists. You know them better than most people. But for some reason every birthday and Christmas comes around and you’re met with the same dilemma once again.
We built this gift collection because we were bored of falling back on whiskies and novelty socks. Don’t get us wrong, we love a good whisky and we’re partial to a goofy pair of socks ourselves. But they’re just easy fallbacks when you’ve run out of ideas and brothers deserve better than that. Especially yours. Especially the ones that always know. The ones that manage to pick something you want, even though they never seem to try all that hard.
We were going for those kinds of gifts. Stuff that just lands. Presents that feel thoughtful without labouring over whether they’re ‘good enough’. That’s a skill all of its own with brothers. Lean too far into sentiment and it starts to get uncomfortable. Go too practical and you might as well have gotten nothing. But find that sweet spot right in the centre and you’re golden. Hit that every year and you’ll have your brother wrapped around your finger.
Different ages call for different gifts. Like do you get the 25-year-old that loves gaming the same thing as the 40-year-old that still loves gaming? Depends what they’re into. We didn’t try and make a gift list for every type of brother out there. But we did pick things that work again and again for a wide variety of brothers. The ones that like to play hard to get. The ones that say they don’t want anything. The ones that you’d think you can’t possibly fail to buy for because you’ve known them your whole life. But you do.
Every one of these is something we would buy ourselves. Honestly. That’s the only test we trust. Whether it photographs nicely or whether it sounds fancy on a list doesn’t matter. If we can see us wearing it or using it and feel like we’ve gotten it spot on then it made the cut. Some of them are small. Some of them are luxurious. They’re all here because they passed that test and nothing else survived.
