Buying a gift for a gamer is something that people think they know how to do until they find themselves staring at shelf after shelf of plastic whilst having absolutely no idea what platform they play on, what they own already and if the thing in their hand is three years old and they bought it day-one. We’ve done it. Trust us, it’s tough. Nobody knows games like you do and that makes buying something genuinely thoughtful seemingly impossible. Unless you’re_OBJ_, of course.
So this list is us saying f*** that. We’ve curated every item with one thought of the recipient and another thought of the unlucky soul who has to actually pick something. Both are important. We don’t just pick every big release of the last few years and call it a day. We wanted games and gear for the gamer who already owns everything on the showy end of the spectrum. For beginners. Night owls. Parents that want to play something with their kids on the weekend. Different people, different requirements.
Every item you’ll find here is something we care about. Actual controllers. Games that will leave a lasting impression on whoever plays them. Accessories that are useful instead of novelty. We work with this stuff every day so we have opinions and care about getting this right. We don’t attempt to list everything gaming, we only want to list the things we know are worthwhile. Does it scratch that itch? You bet.
Picking something that you know the recipient will enjoy is the hard part. You want to be sure, to walk away knowing it’ll work. So we only recommend stuff we would feel comfortable handing over. Stuff we’d buy for ourselves. Maybe something they’ll pick up for themselves down the line but have been putting off. Maybe something they said they wanted years ago and you just forgot. Either way, we picked it. We listened.
