Fan of something? Sure. Obsessed with everything about a particular show until all you talk about? Some people are. Walking Dead fans are definitely that. They’ve seen all the seasons, they have feelings about Shane that they will share with you, and they have also probably told you at one point or another that the comics were better. It takes some effort to find a gift that deserves that level of enthusiasm. Actually, some effort to avoid grabbing something off a grocery store shelf with a zombie on it. We’ve gotten that ‘gift’ before and we know how bad it feels when it lands.
That’s why we wanted to dig deeper to find the stuff that appreciates the obsession. The shirts, figures, collections that aren’t just something somebody got licensed to produce. Stuff that if you were a fan yourself you’d pick up and actually feel something about. It also meant cutting some of the stuff that doesn’t make that standard. A lot of stuff branded Walking Dead just isn’t great. It’s got the logo and doesn’t have much else going for it. We passed on all of that.
The final selection is stuff we think you will hand to that person and they’ll know you took the time to find something for a serious fan. They’ll also get a hell of a reaction from it. Some of it plays up on the violent, grim imagery the show excels at. Some of it is wonderfully collector grade and something a fan would actually want to own and display rather than nod at and throw in a drawer. Our beloved characters deserve better than keychains, frankly.
Buying for the fanatic in your life can be stressful. You’ll probably have seen The Walking Dead enough to know there’s a lot of appreciation to be had but not enough that you can necessarily tell what’s going to get noticed and what’s chasing a licensing deal. That’s where we come in. We’ve done the sorting for you so you don’t have to sift through an online marketplace all afternoon. These are the ones we’d give to the obsessive in our lives who would DEFINITELY know the difference.
