There’s something about a blue police box that gets people. Not just fans – proper, deep in the lore geeky fans – but folks who watched it arriving every Saturday evening when they were young, folks who’ve watched it with their children or their parents, folks who feel their chest tighten ever so slightly when they see that specific tone of blue. We get it. Which is why we approached choosing these gifts with serious care.
See, the issue with Doctor Who merchandise is that a lot of it sucks. Not uninspired, but plain bad. Plastic junk with a logo on it, novelty cups that get tucked in the back of a cupboard after Christmas, items that use the label ‘fan’ but don’t understand what it means to be one.
