Iron Man
I know there’s a type of Marvel fan who consumes the films in repeat. They see them, they pick up on things and they have opinions on what armour is best and will happily argue those opinions at anyone who crosses their path. Tony Stark inspires that kind of fandom. The character justifies it. The snark. The swaggering bravado worn effortlessly. The heart that he spends most the story acting like he doesn’t possess. The rarity of that combination is what makes Iron Man feel different to so many superhero properties. It’s actual merchandising territory. Actual people care about this stuff.
So as we curated this collection we held every potential item to that standard. Does it slap? Sure. But more importantly; does it feel like Iron Man? Does it feel worthy of the character we know and love? There’s a lot of Iron Man stuff out there. Far too much of it simply exists to cash in on name recognition. Let the picture do all the heavy lifting and make an object nobody remembers besides the person it was gifted to. We wanted items that would actually mean something to a fan. To the collector. To the kid who grew up watching RDJ and is now at an age where they can buy their own merchandise for their own shelf. To the design nerd who appreciates quality design referencing one of the greatest drawn characters of the past few decades.
Because everything we’ve selected really does stand up to scrutiny it’d be here. Sure the quality is there but the design has been considered. It’s got to be something you’d gladly accept if it was gifted to you. That’s the only standard we’ve ever held anything to on this site.
Which brings me to the final point. This is a collection for everybody who loves Iron Man. The MK suits in particular have years of iteration and the collectors who love them will know instantly which version a kit is based off of. We respect that and dive deep into that instead of leaning on ‘something red and gold so it probably matches.’ If you know the fan you’re buying for these picks will let you know. It’s the entire reason we do this instead of just sending you off to Google with a vague promise you’ll find what you need.
