Lord of the Rings
Some fandoms you grow out of. Fantasy doesn’t work like that. Starts when you’re twelve and kinda finds you for life. Friends who’ve reread the books every couple of years. Rewatched the extended cuts on long weekends. Named dogs after characters from childhood. When it clicks like that, it really clicks. And that means presenting is serious business when it’s these people you’re buying for. Hit the right note and you’ve got something that people will actually use and means something to them. Miss and you’ve just bought another bit of licensed tat. One that ends up in a drawer.
We wanted none of that.
Every item here has been selected by people who know that kind of fan. Not the Harry Potter binge-viewer of the films who thinks Legolas is hot. But the one who can reel off precisely what Tolkien wrote versus what Jackson decided to change. The one who has seen fucking Tom Bombadil and has feelings about it. That kind of love for something deserves more than aofficial store slogan merchandise you can find in a tourist trap by a motorway services.
So we’ve looked for stuff made with a bit of care. That matches the reverence the source material has for itself. Because Middle Earth is amazing, because it’s got its own languages, its own history, its own sense of morality and gravity and the best gifts for fans of Middle Earth understand that. We looked for stuff that pays off when you pay attention to it, that you’ll be proud to display if you’re the kind of person who cares about what you own.
Then there’s just timing. Birthdays, Christmas, house warming, buying someone a gift when they’re feeling down because the world is rugged and sometimes you just need someone to pat you on the back and say “Hey, I get it, I love it too, here’s a baby T-rex made out of duct tape.” Guy’s Adventures have got gifts for all those occasions. Quiet good that does the job of speaking your friend’s language.
We’ve tried to keep this selection small. There’s nothing worse that scrolling past dozens of things you have no interest in just to find one thing you’d consider buying. Someone who has stood in Rivendell has cooler things to do than scroll through pages of garbage on Amazon.
