PM Writing Second Edition: PM Writing 2nd Edition Training: Full Day INSET

Transform the teaching of writing in your classroom using PM Writing 2nd Edition, the innovative, blended programme that systematically develops explicit writing skills in all your students. PM Writing is a whole school teaching, learning and assessment tool focusing on the writing process through primary school. The programme looks at deconstructing text, constructing a text , taking reading into writing and finally independent writing. The programme provides instruction in writing across 9 different text types and hybrid texts. PM Writing provides a shared vocabulary and language right through the school for teachers and students. There are 26 pieces of literacy that a child has to learn in order to write a good exposition by the end of primary school. They can’t possibly learn them in one year. Each text type has a unique purpose, a unique structure and a unique set of language features. The instruction in writing builds across these 10 different text types throughout primary school. PM Writing 2nd Edition Full Day Training consists of a meeting with senior leaders to discuss implementation of PM Writing and will take place over a 1.5-hour meeting. The meeting covers the creation of the successful ‘BALANCED WRITER’ model within the framework of PM Writing. The remainder of the day will be structured to your schools needs and can include: In class modelling of PM Writing Surgeries with individual teachers to assist with their assessment, groupings and planning of PM Writing. Parent Workshops (with supporting material which can be transferred to the school website) on PM Writing.
