Buying a Penguins fan something is a task that shouldn’t be taken lightly. If you’ve ever loved something as much as these people love the Penguins, you know quality merch from those companies who understand what fandom is vs. some marketing folderol. We know this because we have been on the receiving end of pointless swag just as much as anyone else. Fans of the Penguins are special. They have witnessed the glory of the Lemieux era, The Crosby era, the back to back championships and every crushing defeat between. They don’t need something to remind them who they cheer for. They need something that reaffirms just how much it means to them.
With that in mind, we built this collection. It isn’t the most extensive assortment. We didn’t stuff this with every Penguin themed item we could find. These are things we’d be comfortable handing over to one of our friends. Products that don’t scream thrown together last minute, but were picked by somebody who actually knows the person youre buying for. We winnowed out a lot of vibeless products that are what you’ll find flooding stadium retail stores but make for lame gifts.
The gifts in this collection can be enjoyed any time. Whether its that friends birthday who plans their entire life calendar around Penguins game nights. Or Christmas for Dad who has watched the Penguins through every playoff run since you were a child. Or your friend who will randomly bring up Sidney Crosby in every conversation. Yeah if you know a Penguins fan, it’s all of them. They’re not silly gimmicks that will be appreciated during a good season and thrown in a drawer for the next 8 months. These will hold up because they’re founded on true loyalty that can weather a bad season.
We also wanted to pay special mind to the Pittsburgh native that maybe doesn’t live in Pittsburgh anymore. Maybe they now live thousands of miles away from where they called home. Maybe they don’t get to surround themselves with Penguins culture every day. So when they do find that awesome Pittsburgh jersey or hat, it means that much more. That was something we took into consideration when deciding on products.
Being black and gold in that city is not something taken lightly. It’s not casual. These gifts honor that.
