New York Rangers
There are some Rangers fans out there who already own the jersey. Already have the flag. Already know every guy on this year’s roster by number. Shopping for that person is either really easy or really hard depending on how you choose to look at it. Easy because you know precisely what they care about. Hard because every obvious gift idea has already been exhausted and you’re not really going to throw a generic MSG snow globe at them and expect it to go over well.
That is the problem we wanted to solve when compiling this list. We wanted gifts that hit the mark with a person who bleeds blue. Gifts that aren’t just filling space on the racks at your local sports retailer but rather things that an actual fan would buy for themselves and feel really good about. We are talking about devoted Rangers fans here. Fans that stayed up to watch road games on the west coast. Fans that have been around long enough to have an opinion on every coach since the lockout ended in the nineties. Fans that remember 1994 as if it was last year. Those fans deserve better than a hat knit themed after their favorite defenseman.
Every. Single. Thing. We selected for this list had to pass a single qualification. If you were a true Rangers fan would you genuinely be excited to receive this as a gift or would you grin, thank them for thinking of you, and stuff it in a drawer? Because if it’s the latter then what’s the point? We eliminated anything that felt like a sponsored appendage to an actual gift and focused only on things that felt special, deliberate, and worthy of giving.
Some of these are ideal birthday presents. Some lend themselves more towards Christmas morning or gifting during a playoff push when the mood is already euphoric and you want your present to reflect that. We included a few things for the fans who may be newer to the team and are just starting their collection. And we included some things for that person who has literally everything and isn’t just saying that for the heck of it.
The Rangers have some of the most diehard fans in hockey. They take their team seriously and we took this seriously. If there is a Rangers enthusiast in your life who lives and dies by every skate scratch and cross check this is your starting point.
