Buying a gift for the Canes fan in your life should be easy. Until you’re over their inbox press wondering if they need another jersey, if the mug you found is garbage, if whatever you’re looking at is any good or just slapped with a logo. We’ve stood there before. Fans of the Hurricanes are special too. They’ve watched this team truly take root, they remember when people said there was no way hockey could work in Raleigh and they aren’t about to settle for a keyring being told it’s enough.
We cut through the noise and selected items we would actually give as gifts. Not just because it technically has Canes logos on it. We looked for things that will land just right in the lap of someone who cares about this team. Whether they’ve been watching since coming back as the Whalers or if they fell in love with hockey three seasons ago and dove headfirst into Canes fandom.
We spend a lot of time thinking about occasion when we’re compiling lists like these. Sometimes it’s your friend’s birthday and you want something that shows hey I know you love this team. Other times it’s the start of a season and you want something to celebrate it with that’s not just another jersey from a big box store. Maybe you got a child in your life who has decided that the Hurricanes are the only sport they care about and you want to give them something they’ll actually use instead of lose under their bed after a week. We tried to account for all those occasions (and more).
But what we found ourselves asking when selecting these items was, would I give this as a gift? Would I hand this to someone else and feel confident about it? Not does this ship quickly? Or does it photograph for Instagram well? Or does it fill my price point? If we couldn’t say yes to that question we cut it. Everything here passed that test.
Fans of the Hurricanes don’t need more gear. They have enough stuff. What they need are gifts that show you know what this team means to that person and you cared enough to find something special.
