Badminton
Badminton is overlooked by most. To them it’s whatever garbage set you find in the shed at a barbecue. A couple of bent rackets and a shuttlecock that refuses to fly straight. Talk to anyone who actually plays though and you’ll quickly discover that it’s a sport people take seriously. Train for and play properly. love. If you’re gifts should reflect that. Novelties and ‘nice ideas’ don’t make the cut.
We wanted to gift things that someone who plays badminton would actually want. That meant spending time with players. Learning about the things they use and what could make their lives better. There are a lot of difficult choices to make when you approach gifts like this. Get something too cheap and it feels like you didn’t care enough to learn about the sport. Buy without doing your research and you’ll inevitably duplicate something they already own.
The range of players is pretty wide too. Casual players that meet up on Thursday evenings to play in the local sports hall. Hardcore club players keeping an eye on their backhand and monitoring fitness between games. Families who want something that’ll actually last in the garden all season. Finding gifts that cover all these people without falling into cliché is a challenge.
We kept pretty much everything that would help players become better, train comfortably or feel more connected to the sport they love. Quality grip tape is an underestimated game changer. The right bag will make your training session before you leave the house. A proper shuttlecock. Not the plastic kind in a tube. will change how someone who has never used feathered ones thinks about the game.
We didn’t want to overfill these categories either. Everything here was picked because we liked it. Not because we needed a shuttlecock or it looked good on a mock up. If badminton is something someone in your life enjoys. Start here.
