6th Anniversary
Six years is a weird anniversary. It comes after all the big ones that get all the attention, after the first, skips the fifth and lands quietly six years in without anyone having given it too much thought. Which sucks, because choosing each other for six years is something that deserves more than a card you stopped to pick up on the way home.
The traditional sixth anniversary gift is candy. Or, in some lists, iron. We think that’s interesting as a combination more than most people would at first glance. Candy, because your relationship has probably gotten truly sweet by then, rounded out the rough edges and become comfortable in a deep and meaningful way. Iron because there’s probably some strength to it by then too, something that’s been tested and has proven itself. Together those ideas really give you some room to play if you want to roll with it.
So we rolled. Every single piece in this collection was curated by us answering one question; would we give this to someone we loved for their sixth anniversary. Not does it passively fit a theme, not is it good enough to get by. Does it land? Does it feel like someone picking it out actually stopped and gave some thought? A lot of stuff didn't make the cut.
If it felt like it was too clever by half to justify itself, it got cut. Too into the candy or iron theme to feel like a gift and more like a visual gag? Cut. A lot didn’t make the cut, but all of what you see here feels like that comfortable spot in the middle. Gifts that don’t necessarily scream “sixth anniversary” but feel personal, and specific, and most importantly; appreciated without the recipient having to connect a dozen mental dots.
By six years, you should know this person very well. We think that makes it easier to buy for them. You’re no longer blindly attempting to figure out what they like. You’re buying for a person whose kitchen you’ve eaten dinner in, who’s coffee order you know by heart, whose face you can easily picture when they smile. We tried to keep that in mind with every selection we made for this collection. The best gift you can get someone for six years together is not the most clever. It’s the one that makes them feel seen.
