Pac-Man
Few things in pop culture have remained as steadfastly popular as Pac-Man. It was released in 19… wait, you know the story. Yellow circle with legs. Entire universe recognizes the shape. When we started curating collections like this, we think about that a lot. The easy option is to take a cheap bowl, slap a maze design on it, and send it for production. That's NOT Pac-Man. We wanted to give you pieces worthy of the license. Designed for fans of the game who want to love their purchases, not just accept them.
Nostalgia will be different for everyone. Whether you’re gifting to a lifelong gamer or someone who appreciates Pac-Man for its artistic merit, Pac-Man meant something to them. Maybe it’s an easy trip down memory lane. An arcade in 1984, a handful of ten pence pieces, and that incomparable feeling of beating a level. Maybe they love the look of Pac-Man. That recognizable, minimalist art style that could only come from the 80’s? Either way, we’ve got you covered.
If it didn’t pass this test, we didn’t include it. Would an aficionado of Pac-Man smile and add this to their collection, or would they force a smile, hide it at the back of their cupboard and pretend they never received it? The latter is definitely not an outcome we’re going to tolerate. So we eliminated anything we felt was novelty junk, any pieces that used the Pac-Man name without paying respect to why Pac-Man is such a great license to begin with or things we ourselves wouldn’t proudly display as part of our collection.
Some of these items are genuinely functional. Some are strictly for display. And some we wouldn’t mind hanging onto ourselves if it wasn’t for this wonderful occasion you have to give them away. Point is, don’t worry about who you’re buying for. Every item in this collection is here because it has something to offer, whether they grew up dropping quarters into the machine or if they just love the design. Pac-Man is iconic, let’s keep these gifts iconic as well.
