There’s someone in your life who gets really excited about seeing a little cartoon plumber. Someone who has strong feelings about which Zelda game is objectively the best. Someone who can still tell you about a Mario Kart race they had ten years ago. Shopping for them should be easy and somehow it never quite is; the obvious stuff either doesn’t feel personal enough or sinks into such niche territory that you find yourself second guessing what you thought was a simple gift purchase.
We built this collection with that person in mind. Some of us are that person. Nintendo is a rare breed in gaming because whilst it has fans who spend every waking hour immersed in gaming, it also has fans of all ages who maybe dip in and out. A parent who loved the original GameBoy will pick up a Switch and suddenly they’re invested again together. That moment of connection is special. It’s worth buying into and it’s worth buying well for.
That’s why everything in this collection has been carefully considered. Sure, it has big N all over it but we only chose things that not only look good but play great too. We aren’t interested in the rubbish end of licensed merchandise. We wanted to pick things that feel special; that you’d be proud to display on a shelf or your desk or that you’d actually want to use on a long journey. Games, toys and merchandise that earn a permanent place in your life.
We’ve also thought about price ranges. Whether you know your Nintendo owner inside-out or if they’re someone who maybe just loves the characters but won’t necessarily have played every game there’s something for you here. And whatever budget you’re shopping for we made sure there’s something at the lower end that feels like a considered pick as well as something a bit further up that we know is Nintendo gold for the right person.
Nintendo have been making amazing things that make people feel anything but boring for decades. It hasn’t happened by accident. When you get a gift that taps into something someone really loves, even geeky little thing, it becomes more than buying something. It’s a moment.
