Ghostbusters
Some films you enjoy. Other films you take with you for life. Ghostbusters is the latter. Released in 1984 and we’ve pretty much not stopped talking about it since. Just seeing the logo sends people into a frenzy. That tiny ghost with the red slash across it and bam, there it is; A flashback to seeing it on VHS, or a popcorn ceiling on the family sofa, or a brother or sister sat beside you scoffing Frosties. That is why Ghostbusters merch can be so special. It stops representing a movie. It symbolises a feeling that everyone who loves it has experienced since they were young and have never really moved on from.
With that in mind, we curated this collection with a certain kind of person in mind. Not someone who has every piece of merchandise released or can recite every production note (although believe me they exist and if that’s you we love you too). We mean that person who has a simple yet unwavering love for something that made them happy as kids and still does today. That person isn’t difficult to shop for if you get the right products. They are impossible to shop for if you get it wrong.
And trust us there is a lot of Ghostbusters merch out there. A lot of it deserves to stay on the shelf. Poor quality plastic, little effort put into designs, the kind of stuff you double click on thinking it’s something cool but comes up feeling very lack lustre IRL. We dug through it all, keeping only the things we’d want to actually gift ourselves. Items that are well crafted, specific enough that someone put thought into it but cool enough that they won’t end up sitting in a drawer collecting dust.
Speaking of drawers, we have plenty of things that can go on your wall or that you can actually wear or use. Some of these items are subtle. Some of them proudly wear their geek on their sleeves. Ones we picked because we knew a Ghostbuster fan would appreciate it as much as they appreciate the movie itself.
