Hufflepuff
Buying someone a gift is easy when you know them well enough to know what they’ll like. It’s harder when you don’t know them as well. There is something uniquely difficult about buying for a Hufflepuff though, and it’s this: they will love whatever you get them. That doesn’t mean it’s not a challenge. They’ll thank you for it and they’ll mean it and you’ll walk away feeling like you cheated. But they don’t deserve tricked into loving what you got them. You know that too.
Hufflepuffs remember your birthday without Facebook reminders. They show up with food for events that nobody asked them to bring food to. Their loyalty is so solid it goes unnoticed until the day someone tries to take it, and it’s the first thing you think of about them. Buying them something should feel rewarding. Like you’re righting a wrong. You’ve been letting them for a while now. It’s time to repay that debt.
That’s how we went into building this collection. Every item here was curated around that feeling. You’ll notice yellow and black throughout, because the yellow and black matters to Hufflepuffs. But that’s not the whole reason these items are here. We looked for warmth, craftsmanship, things that feel like they were built to spend a long time in this world rather than built to be opened. Hufflepuff doesn’t need things that scream HOUSE! AT YOU. Neither do these gifts. Some of them sit on shelves and listen. Others will get used every day, and that’s actually better than sitting on a shelf.
A lot of thought like that, and we considered the shoppers too. You might be a Hufflepuff yourself. There’s a good chance you are because where’s the fun in shopping for someone who shares your love of perfect giftackages? If you are you’re likely shopping for someone else and trying way too hard. That’s extremely Hufflepuff. Maybe you belong to another house entirely and you’re trying to prove to your Hogwarts recipient that you pay attention. Regardless of who you are we wanted this shopping experience to reflect that. It was thought about. A lot.
We didn’t just choose items because they popped up first on Google or because they sported a badger and we felt like it was close enough. Each product was held up against the house of Hufflepuff itself. Patient, loyal, hardworking, wildly underrated. Did it live up to that? If not, it didn’t make the cut. I hope that doing things the long way doesn’t sound like a deal-breaker to you because every shortcut we considered didn’t make this final version of the collection. This is what we think Hufflepuffs would have come up with if they built it ourselves. And we’re proud to say that means it’s better than it needs to be.
